Mazovia or — old variant — Masovia (Polish: Mazowsze) is a geographical and historical region located in central and northeastern Poland, on both banks of the middle course of the Vistula River and its tributaries the Western Bug and Narew. Its historical capitals are Płock, which received urban privileges in 1237, Czersk, and then Warsaw from 1413.
